The Casual Artscast 018

Don't blame the Funk Doc...

It's the Old Man's fault it took so long to get this one out there..

The last thing the Funk Doc saw before getting an eye full of snow.

It's the end of March and it's stil snowy here in the city of Weimar. Nothing better to do but sit around, drink beer, smoke cigarettes, build an occassional snowman, and make a podcast or two.

And this time the Funk Doc was a guest at the Old Man's place for the first time in a while. He showed up, we cracked open the first of many bottles of Sternburg Beer and made us a PODcast.

Let me tell you about Sternburg Beer and why it's an illustration of why life in Germany is great.

Sternburg and Oettinger (the Funk Doc's personal favorite brew christened O-Diddy) are two shamefully cheap German beers. You can get a bottle of the beer of your choice for 32 Euro cents, sometimes 27 if you know where to shop.

Understandably, these brands are not consumed by broad segments of the population. In some social circles they are shunned and deemed "Asi-Bier," which means something like "Beer for bums, punks and homeless people."

People who say such things are idiots and both Sternburg and Oettinger are beers of excellent quality, the likes of which would cost you $4.50 at any Bennigans in the US.

Microphone, American Spirit, and a coupla Sternburgs...

Casual Artscast ain't nothin' to fuck with.

Actually, we have been known to do a couple of live folk/bluegrass radio shows here at the college radio station in Weimar, but we hope the worldwide reach of the podcast will bring the twangy beauty of Doc Watson, Leo Kottke, and Bill Monroe to a broader audience.
